Going to Austria on Friday? |
Just wondering what the weather is like at the minute. We are flying into Vienna on Friday, then going to Salzburg on Sunday and then onto Hallstatt and back to Vienna.
Also I was there last year and done a lot of the usual stuff but just wondering is there anything else I could try??? I enjoyed going to the Eagles nest and doing the sound of music tour and general sightseeing....! |

Salt mine - as mentioned: You can visit them in Hallstatt - there are guided tours. Salt has been mined in Hallstatt since the Bronce Ages - hence the name: Some towns in Austria/Germany bear "Hall" in their name and this refers to salt.
From Hallstatt you could also go to Bad Ischl - very nice place - the Austrian Emporer Franz Joseph spents his summers there. His Villa can be viewed. Details:

When in Vienna visit the Zoo to see the baby Panda bear.
Weather should be quite warm next weekend. If you do the salt mine bring a jacket.
When in Salzburg visit Schloss Hellbrunn and/or the Festung Hohensalzburg (fortress above the city) |

We went over to Austria in February and ended up LOVING Innsbruck. It was a 45 minute flight from Vienna. It was beautiful, with the Alps as the background! Lots of neat things to see here. One thing I really recommend, is going to the Swarovski Kristallwelten. It was one of the coolest places I have EVER seen in my life. The link:
