I think the best way is to take the bus to Westbahnhof. It leaves every 30 minutes. So, you'll probably take the one that leaves at 1.00 or 1.30. It takes about 30 minutes and you pay 6E. Follow the bus signs to find the station. Be sure that you take the right bus. ( to Westbahnhof)

Click on the "here" link on the BY BUS tittle in the home page
below to see the schedule. Unfortunately, it is only in German. Look in the 4. schedule. (Flughafen Wien means- Vienna Airport)

http://www.aua.com/at/eng/About_Flight/airports/vienna/default.htm

Once you arrive at Westbahnhof ask where you can buy your ticket (If you have not bought it already via Internet).

The cost of the ticket is 44.20E. If your flight does not have any delays you can take the one that leaves at 14.44.

Train Schedule:

Have a nice trip!

The first train leaving the airport is at 5.24 am (platform1). You'll take a Regio-S-Bahn to Wien Mitte-Landstraße and arrive there at 5.48 (platform 1/2).
There you have to get on the U3 (direction Wien Ottakring Bahnhst) at 5.53. Get off at Wien Westbahnhof at 6.02. Get on the ICE to Bregenz at 6.14 on platform 7 and you'll arrive in Salzburg at 8.53.
It should cost you €44,30.

hi, i think the fastest way to go from airport to the central train station is the so called "cat" (city airport train) - it only takes 16 minutes to go to the central station (it's a nonstop-connection). this train operates every 30 minutes: 13.05, 13.35, 14.05, 14.35, 15.05, the price is € 8,- if you buy the ticket online: www.cityairporttrain.com - you'll arrive in "Wien Mitte/Landstraße", then you have to take the subway "U3" in direction Ottakring and go to station "Westbahnhof" (the subway operates every 3 to every 7 minutes, 7 Stations from Wien Mitte) when you arrive at Westbahnhof you go upstairs and take the train to Salzburg - for schedule look at http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp - type in Wien West for departing station to Salzburg and it will find the connections - you can also buy tickets for it online, if you like you can also reserve a seat - which is a little cheaper than buying it directly at the train station....
I hope this helped...
If you need any further help concerning planning your journey in Salzburg don't hesitate to ask!

I forgot to mention that if you go back the same way it will be cheaper to buy a so-called "Vorteilscard" for the train - normally you pay just 50% of the normal price with it...look at http://www.oebb.at/pv/en/Servicebox/VORTEILScard/index.jsp

You can´t, you have to go by car.
