10 days is more than enough !!
I needed only 20 days visiting Switzerland (Interlaken, Zurich), Italy (Rome, Milano, Florence, Venedict), Austria (Vienna), France (Paris, Lourdes, Tarbes, Nice) , Netherland (Amsterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht), Brussel, Spain (Madrid, Barcelona), and Monaco, start from Germany (I live in Germany)

Traveling around Europe is pretty easy and save, and pleasant.

You have to arrange your own trip, i visited some websites that helped me alot arranging everything. You can search on google search and find website for 1.Interrail, 2.if you understand a little germany you should visit DBahn, it really helps you making timetable, 3.wikipedia for information of each country you want to visit, 4. google earth to map the location. Those were all for me that time.

If you just want to see the largest cities like Vienna, Zurich, Milano, Rome - then its enough but if you want to see nature attractions its definitely not enough.
If you make that "just- the-cities-trip" you should visit in Switzerland Lucerne or Berne if you like shopping you should visit Zurich too. But 10 days are really not so much to see all interesting sites.....
have a look at this website http://www.myswitzerland.com/en.cfm/home

Yes, you can. The cheapest way to go is to get a Euro-Pass. You can travel anywhere in Europe with that pass for a low price. Get together the places you want to see in each country, like for example in Italy you might want to see the leaning tower or the stadium, statues, historical places. rite? I think Austria might take 2 days to see. Switerland might take 4 days and Italy will take 4 days as well.
Have fun travelling
