I'm going to be alone in Vienna for three days, what should I do?

I want to make the most of it. If I really love it, I might even extend my trip by a day or so (I have nine days altogether, and after I leave Vienna I'm going to work my way south into Italy, eventually to Rome.)

Days? Nights? I'm on a tight budget and staying in a hostel, but I can afford a couple of train tickets for day trips, etc. and a little nightlife.

I loved the gardens of Belvedere and Schönbrunn Palaces. Especially the last one, since it's much bigger and has a lot to offer, it even has a public swimming pool!. They are free (except for a few areas which require tickets) and so beautiful!

Numerous new bars and beisls, some with entertainment, and trendy meeting places have been established during the past few years. The different nightlife scenes have "conquered" entire city neighborhoods and revived others, such as the Gürtel. Whether it is in the bourgeois inner districts or the more suburban outer districts, one finds exciting nightlife all over the city.
