Living in Austria and knowing almost all about it ;-) I can assure you Innsbruck is a very beautiful city and is absolutely worth visiting. The local people are very friendly and the prices are lower in comparison to Vienna or Salzburg. Visiting Innsbruck, don't forget to take your time and visit Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens.

Yes, the scenery is absolutely breath-taking.

It is a nice place. Visit a house with a golden roof. Don't expect too much though it isn't a huge place. it is lovely though. They have great beer and fantastic schnitzels.

Innsbruck definitely is worth visiting. Wonderful scenery with the mountains close by, nice city center with the famous "Golden Roof" house and all in all not too expensive.
A MUST is a visit at the ski jump which is very close. You have a great view of the city and you can imagine how courageous the ski jumpers must be if they dare to go down there. Innsbruck hosted the Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976.
Also do visit the famous crital worlds of Swarovsky which is only a few kilometers outside of Innsbruck.
If you are there you should also make at least a day trip to Salzburg (only apx. 170 km) which is the most beautiful city in Austria!

D
It is absolutely beautiful surrounded by high snow covered mountains for climbing( or ski-ing). to view the town below. There are lovely cosy inns and restaurants, and old buidings on cobbled streets.
