Mode of travel in Austria?

We will be in Austria for a week.
Can you suggest what is the best mode of travel in Austria i.e. are trains well connected or is it better to travel in bus?

Are day tours in Bus recommendable in Austria?
Is travelling costly in Austria?

Hi, The Vienna public tranportation consists of an excellent system which covers all the city and surroundings. The underground is the most used an fastest. The tram covers more routes than the underground and the bus, but it is of course slower . The bus covers all the routes that the other two do not cover. A week card costs 12.50 €, and you can use it in all the three trasportation I have mencioned.
Day tours can be booked in downtown. I am not sure about the prices, but the best way to discover such a beutiful city is walking. You will only need a map and know what do you want to see. Auf Wiedersehen!!!!

Use their rail service when going from city to city in Austria and its far quicker than by bus. They have an excellent train system over there. When you have a reached a city, then you can use their public transportation like the S-Bahn, transit buses, etc. Also, you can use bus tours when you are in the city, like Cityrama in Vienna. There are many different types to choose from. Buy your train tickets well in advance, figure out how many days of travel, and then purchase online or over the phone with eurail. You will save a lot more money than buying it at the train station. Have a great trip!

usually as a tourist you have these special offers for using ANY public transportation in vienna...trams...subways...buses...the infrastructure is really good and as long as you have a proper map then it shouldn't be a problem finding the place you want to go to

i live in vienna...and i ONLY use public transportation...it brings me to every place in vienna hehe

Your question should be a bit more specific. However, when in Wienna you have many choices between buses, subway and regional trains... all mores of transortation are very well connected and coordinated so you can get from and to anypoint in the city. Wienna is a small place and if you have time I'd recomend you to walk, you can walk from any place to any place in wienna and the longest walk will probably take you an hour. There are also buses that take you to the touristic spots and in general transportation can be a bit pricy. hope this helps
