Teaching English is a boom industry in Austria at the moment. Companies like Berlitz, Inlingua and Alpha always have openings for native speakers, (Qualified or not), and regardless of your knowledge of German, (Deutch kentnisse). As for migration, being a holder, (former holder), of an Austrian passport, you should have an advantage..favourite sons and all that!.
I would check with the Austrian consulate on that one though.

I too am a non - native, (originally from England), and I have been living in Austria for the last 17 years.

Tip: i wouldn't worry too much about learning German. I am fluent, (even in dialect!) , but i seldom get a chance to use it...re: English fad.

I hope this helps, I wish you and your Family the best of luck!.

Take care. C.J.
