Hi,
I don't think that all the people in Austria are snotty (at least I am not :) - there are some areas where you find the so-called "haute volée", the rich people, and perhaps some of them are snotty but I think it's the same in all other countries. Of course, as tourist you are visiting the big cities in Austria (like Vienna and Salzburg) and for sure, in cities, as there are many people living in, the concentration of snotty people is higher....
Visit Austria to get your own idea of it and don't believe everything they are telling you at school!

Did she meet ALL the people. If so then it means she found them snotty.

Go Vegan!
Well no. Everywhere you go there will be some nice people and some stuckup people. Maybe she was offended my the Austrian's culture because it is different form American culture so she might not be used to the difference. I hope this helps!

Hard to believe that an entire country would be snotty. Perhaps just her interpretation.....?

I have spent many holidays in Austria and the Austrian people I have been in contact with have never been anything but polite and most helpful. But were ever you go, there will be always be some who are not, but that's life. I would just go and enjoy the country. The different regions of Austria have each a separate beauty and culture.

For her.

I didn't find the people to be snotty either, but they could have been considering I didn't speak the language very well or maybe it was just that I had too much of their great wines.:)

Happiness.
Hi,
I am from Austria and visit there often. I live in America though and I do see a difference. People are very sorta rude. And what kills me is that everyone over their thinks all Americans eat is Mcdonalds and cheeseburgers. LOL! I really do not feel welcomed over there. I love the U.S better.
