Salzburg or Vienna for a daytrip?

I can only afford a day trip to either of these places and am finding it hard to decide which one to go to.. I go to Munich that night and so am tempted to go to Salzburg since it's closer to munich and so i would be able to spend more time in Salzburg. I'm just looking for a nice place to relax... nice scenery.. good cafe maybe.. a lake if i'm very lucky :P .. basically just a place to relax at. Not interested in museums and other touristy things.
Thanks

I would recommend Salzburg! Take the funicular up to Festung Hohensalzburg for super great views. Then go back to Hotel Sacher for some sacher tort and a coffee! Walk around Old Salzburg to check out the architecture and sights! If you want a lake, go check out Lake Wolfgang!

Vienna is also nice, but it's much more busier with much more people and a lot more touristy things to do, so you might not feel as "relaxed" as you wish.

based on what you said - Salzburg! It still has a "small town" feel to it and has lots of great cafe's and pubs.

Hi. I think you found your answer- I think you should go to Salzburg! It just takes you two hours by train to get there- everything is within walking distance of the train station. You' ll find a lot of nice Cafes... good restaurants and an amazing scenery (castle high above the city!)- and there are some lakes next to Salzburg!

It takes you five hours to get to Vienna.... and if you don t wanna do sightseeing it's a very long way for a daytrip!
