The dress-code has definitely loosened up in recent years but if you go for very smart casual or business attire then you will be fine (dark colours). There will be some who wear the whole get-up, as Europeans do tend to take a great pride in their appearance, but if you're in a smart pair of trousers/skirt and top you will be fine. If in doubt I'd encourage you to dress 'up' rather than 'down'. Jacket for guys is fine, no need for tux. Have fun. I guess you're seeing 'Falstaff' which is an opera by Verdi adapted in part from Shakespeare's 'Merry wives of Windsor'. It's wonderful. |

i think a suit will be fine, tux would be overdressed! it should be elegant - the rest isn't really important...don't worry too much about it - there are always some people in jeans and t-shirt ;)

you should really consider about your dress code. think it like high school dance only an every day occassion. so you don't look like a tourist you should wair a tux, or drees to make yourself fit in dark colors should be worn. it depends what opera house you go to. don't be alarmed if random people start talking to you. remember its a high school dance |
