There are lots of things to do and see in Vienna. Most shops, museums, and other attractions are inside the Ringstrasse:
Go shopping at the pedestrian shopping areas of Graben, Kohlmarkt, Karntner and Mariahilfer streets.
Have cake and coffee at the famous Demel Cafe on Kohlmart street.
Have fun at the amusement park, Volksprater Funfair, at the Prater.
Visit the grand Schonbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the royal Habsburgs, take a tour inside and walk around its extensive grounds - Coach Museum, a hedge maze, apple streudel demonstrations, restaurants, palm house, an impressive zoo, etc.
Visit the Belvedere Palaces and gardens, former summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, now houses an extensive art gallery - from statues to paintings.
Visit the impressive 13th century Stephansdom cathedral and its brightly coloured glazed tiled roof.
Wander around the Hofburg complex, which contains the former imperial apartments, musuems, gardens, shops, Austrian National Library, butterfly garden, Albertina art gallery, the world famous Winter Riding School (Lipizzaner stallions), etc.
Why not take a tour of the city on the first day, it's a great way to learn about a city. Cityrama is pretty good, and the tour guides know a lot more historical gossip than the guide books tell.
And, in the evenings? The best nightlife is in central Vienna where there are a lot of late night cafes, bars, and wine cellars. Like, Ma Pitom on Seitenstettengasse, Zwolf Apostle Keller on Sonnenfelsgasse, the American Bar on Karntner, etc.
Have a great time!
