What is your choice for the best way to spend 10 days in Vienna at Christmas? (Hint: has never been to Europe)

This is a party of 4 persons; two parents and two adult children. Enjoy the outdoors, public museums and beautiful public spaces. Are casual rather than formal, yet will pack a few nice things to wear. One of the children will be spending the previous 3 months studying in Budapest, speaks several European languages, and will meet us in Austria. We pefer to stay put rather than travel all over but could travel a bit during the 10 days we will be there over Christmas. Skiing would be great. Travel guides and agents are helpful but I thought it might be good to get some actual advice from folks who have travelled more extensively. The answer could be simple; I am sure one could spend years in Vienna alone but I am looking for other traveler's favorite memories of their time in Austria.
Thanks.

ive never been to europe either,

that probly is the best way to start off

just go there and mingle

ask around people are friendly in some way or another. go out there and make a few euro friends

First of all, I hate you because I'm so jealous!!

Anyway, go see the sights and don't spend a lot of time in the hotel room just watching TV. I know that sounds obvious but it can happen.

Go see the sights and take in the culture. Have some Viennese food that you can't get anywhere else; that is. Take LOADS of pictures, too. Go see the skyline at night. Watch some bullfighting. There's probably a load of stuff to do there.
