Well.. Brazil is a huge country and different regions and cities can be quite different from each other, with different lifestyles, costs and ways of living.
In general, Brazilians are very friendly, talkative and easygoing. We love music and there are many local rhythims and flavors to discover.
We have different and varied typical regional foods, artcraft, music, etc and etc.

Let's talk about Bahia.. Savadore is the capital of the state of Bahia and the meca of Axé music - have you ever listened to it?? IT's nice and you'll be amazed by the Carnival parede they have every year.
It is said that over 80% of Baianos are black or mulatoes - other states are mostly inhabited by white people - and people from Bahia are EXTREMELY laidback. There are many jokes about it LOL and yes, they're a bit too slow most of the time. Ps. my gf is gonna kill me heheh!
They are very warm and hospitable people who love to party, dance, going to the beach and are very proud of their culture and state. Some of them imagine Bahia as a country apart from Brazil LOL ;-P
They usually speak slowly with a funny accent and make use of many local slangs and expressions like "oxente", "meu rei", "lezera da peste", among many others..
Any slang you should know before getting there?? uhmm not that I am aware of.. You'll have plenty of time to learn them all at school hauhauah don't worry about it!
People dress in different ways like everywhere else.. the basic style? shorts, skirts (girls), tops (girls), t-shirts, jeans, speedos (boys), bikinis (girls), flip flops, caps, sunglasses, nike shox ... whatever you feel like!
Food is good.. a bit spicy though. Acarajé, Vatapá and shrimp "bobó" are nice. You should try them!
The most popular and national sport is soccer/ football. Brazilian men are fanatic about it, but I'd say most women prefer volleyball. However, you'll have the chance to practice most sports that may come to your mind.. from basketball to diving or surfing.
There's a lot to see and do. Just google for bahia + salvador + guide, etc
High schools?! Well, there are a few excellent , some good and many awful ones. Brazil is a developing country and education is one of the issues that we have to improve.
The best schools here are private and most of the locals can't afford paying for them.
But I'm positive they won't send you to a public school! Actually, i believe you'll go to one of the excellent ones because your coming as an exchange student.. so, it will be probably harder to get good grades. You'll have to study a bit more than your might be used to if you live in the US.
Done!! i hope you enjoy your stay!!
Take care

Your question is no different. It's ten points for best answer for everyone. Normally, though, when the asker begs someone to answer and says they'll give them ten points they don't. It usually has to be done by votes. So the lure of "ten points" is usually by someone who grabs all the answers and leaves.

how do people act there? nice, no racism
what is their general attitude like as a whole? nice, welcoming...
how do they talk? normal. portuguese...
is there any basic slang i should know before i go there? not really, slang isnt really used except for simple stuff like Oi (hi)
valeu (thanks)....
how do the teenagers dress there? basic clothing, nothing high-fashion like. boys - simple shirt, shorts, and sandles, sometimes a baseball cap (i mean the shape of the cap not the sport of course)
what is their basic style?simple, suitible for hot weather...
how is the food? Beautiful...rice, beans, churrasco (meat on stick) frango, no junk food, you have to try it.
what do they eat? ^^^
what kind of sports are popular - besides soccer? Futebol (soccer). no one in the world is gonna know what youre talking about if you say soccer. volleyball, for women. every country in the world is Futebol crazy. i Highly reccomend going to a game, once you see the torcidas, and the match, youre gonna be Hooked for life, trust me.
what is there to do? hang out outside, rarely do people stay inside, talk, walk around, play futebol...
and most importantly...
WHAT ARE THE HIGH SCHOOLS LIKE? its really no different from any other one...
