Angra is not an Island as suggested below. It is a city and port south of the City of Rio de Janeiro. In front of the city is a large bay and the whole area is often refer to to as Angra dos Reis. The bay is beautiful but the city is a dump. For many years I worked as a dive master and taught SCUBA diving in many of the islands around the bay. Many tourist guides claim that the bay contains 365 islands. While this may be slightly exaggerated there are well over 200 real islands and many more outcrops of Rock that may be exposed depending on the tide. At he entrance of the bay is a large Island called Ilha Grande. This island blocks the cold current coming up form Antarctica form cooling the bay down. The creates nice warm water in the bay. Angra has many Islands that are public and anyone can visit like, Cataguazes (the most beautiful beach you have ever seen), Botinas (a open air aquarium with fish swimming up to your boat). Some of the islands are owned by individuals like Ivo Pitangi (a famous plastic surgeon). On his island he has a landing strip and a recovery clinic for his high paying clients who do not want the Paparazzi taking their photos as they recover form a nose job.

Ilha Grande is the large island in the opening of the bay of Angra. It has several inhabited villages but one main one called Abrão. You can go there by ferry boat several times each day. On Ilha Grande there are several little hotels. Some are reasonably priced and some are quite luxurious even though they are small can be expensive. The really rich folk go to there own islands or to friends islands or even rent an island for a week.

Good luck on your report, and by the way Braizl is Portuguese speaking not Spanish speaking.

uhhhh Brasilians speak PORTUGUESE, NOT spanish. we are NOT latinos/hispanics/ or whatever you want to call us. our culture are VERY different from the hispanics, so please keep up apart from them, there is hate between both.

Is a wonderful place localizad in Rio de Janeiro state. Many "exclusive people" and is a little bit expensive. But I think that Angra is magic and fantastic. I have this page: http://www.angra-dos-reis.com/ Take a look and you will see all things about............ Good luck!!!!

Angra is in Rio, I've been there several times, It's a place just like the Hamptons for us all the rich folks go there to unwind and socialize and relax. There are couple resorts there such as the porto Galo, nice places but to have fun in Angra you need a boat, that way you can get to better beaches, with far less people. We spent many summer days there going from beach to beach grilling, lighting a pit fire and having lots of fun. The BORRACHUDOS (mosquitoes)always messed up everything

Hi!
It is not a place for me. The town is strange and got a bad smell. The best place is Ilha Grande you can reach it through regular boots or renting one.
The diversion happens in the private islands. In summer is possible you meet famous people.
