Each School of Samba during the parade develops a theme usually linked the history of Brazil or a theme of interest the Brazilian culture.
A person can participate as prominence depending on his projection in the media or for his beauty.
The year of 2009 is the official year of France in Brazil the school of Big samba Rio brought several French dancers of Can-Can.
Usually the directors of the samba schools don't like foreigners a lot to participate in the parades, the jurors that judge them presentation are severe as the rules and one of them is that all the components sing the music theme of the parade. All the components should dance during all the presentation in sambodrome ground that has 900 meters of it distances. Or 274 feets.
Anybody can participate in the parade, since it participates in the rehearsals in the headquarters of the School during the year, and participate in the general rehearsal that it is done in January in the Carnival parade ground (Sambodrome).
Exist hundreds of schools of Samba that they are divided the size accordingly, the largest arrive to have 5000 participants and due to the maximum time allowed for the exhibition of the School (80 minutes) usually at the most alone 3000 components they parade in the main contest. In the group A the schools are smaller and they have about 3000 components, of the group B about 1800 components, in the group C about 1000 components, in the group D about 800 components in the Group E about 500 components. The rules are same for all of the schools put they are judged comparing the schools with the same number of participants and your financial capacity.

Only the special group the group A, and the group B paredes at the Sambodrome.
On Saturday the group parades A.
On Sunday and on Monday the special group parades.
On Tuesday the group parades C.
The other groups parade in other points of the city as well as the carnival blocks and the carnival bands.
