Why Chile; Have you consider any other S. Am. countries, Brasil for example. That´s where i´ve lived for the past 2 years, but of course, i have my personal reasons to be here. Yours may be different. I live near the very expensive tourist areas, beaches...but in the more economical section...well, like i said, everyones reason are different. Wish you the best.

Due to the Bush's you might be dying of thirst there. They're about to destroy glaciers there (for gold, oil, etc.), which otherwise would provide water for generations. Retire there? I'd go there to start a "green" rebellion!
