We just came back from Costa Rica yesterday. It is our second visit there, so it is definitely worth your visit. It is hard to give you any recommendations, as the area to visit depends on your intended activities. If you want to see wildlife, you have to go to Tortugero (huge turtles, caymans, monkeys), Carcavado (dolphins, monkeys, frogs, birds), and Manuel Antonio. If you are a fan of volcanoes, the must is Arenal area. If you like snorkeling, do not miss Tortuga Island and Konyo Island. One of the best adventurous activities is caving in Venada caves. Anyway, you will not be sorry you went.

Costa Rica is awesome. The tropical beaches are the best but I also love Arenal Volcano, here you can watch the volcano erupt and at night there is red lava flowing down the side of the volcano. For the beaches the further south on the Pacific the more tropical. Also right now, September & October, it is rainy season but on the Carribean of Costa Rica it is the dry season there so it is a great place to visit. Places like Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, & Playa Manzanillo.
