I have been several times. Primarily I was in the south, in Curitiba and Porto Allegre. I also have visited Rio, Sao Paolo, Brazilia, and Manaus. Brazil is a large country and it varies considerably between the north, amazon and more cultured south. The people of Brazil are still very friendly and the lifestyle reminds me a great deal of the TV show Happy Days, with respect to how well mannered and respectful everyone is to their elders etc...There is a great deal of poverty, much worse than here in the United States, but I love Brazil and look forward to returning soon.

I was there and I loved!
Everybody is polite and beautiful!
It´s a paradise!
The food is so delicious, I ate some "feijoada" and "pão de queijo" (I think they write like that)
and this meal was one of the most delicious meal that I ate on my life!
You should go there!
I hope do it again!

Yes 4 times, North Brazil that will say, and this NYE will be the 5th time, I am Dutch.
I've visited several cities and towns from Salvador Bahia and up, I love the mixture between black and white people and their influences in this part of Brazil.
I love the layed back atmosphere most of all.

I am Brazilian and I live in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil is a complex country, we had the contribution of several people for the formation of the Brazilian people. As Annies said Bahia is the point of America closest of Africa, then the big influences African in that area. In the Amazonian area the influence of the Brazilian native, Japanese and the Portuguese. In the south area the influence is. Germans, Poles, Italian and Swiss. In the Central area the descendants of the Germans and Poles of the south of Brazil migrated to the Central Plateau. It is finally the southeast area that is cosmopolitan.
