Anyone know any good hotels in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil? |
I am going to Brazil in March and to Rio for 5 days. I have read lots of reviews of different hotels but I want to make sure I get a good one. I'm looking for an economically priced hotel and don't expect anything fancy but I do want it to be clean and on the beach. Any suggestions from personal experience? |

You can stay in excellent hotels there for the price of a very good hotel here. Copacabana Palace is expensive.
Click on the links below. They are in English. You can learn about the hotels and prices. It is worthy to go in one of them if you can. It would be a extra experience for your trip;

If you want economically priced, consider renting an apartment for the period. I use Vanna at www.vannarioflats.com.br and have never had any trouble. E-mail her with that you want and she'll fix you up with a nice place in either Copacabanna or Ipanema. She speaks English, will tell you what to watch out for, and has a list of landlords willing to rent apartments. She'll contact them and get you what you want. She's a whole lot pickier then I am because we saw a couple apartments that I would take but they weren't up to her standards. As she is a private individual, not a company, she requires payment in cash and also needs a security deposit (usually US$100 or whatever your currency is). You actually sign a contract acknowledging everything. Don't worry about her ripping you off--she keeps your deposit in an envelope in her apartment and actually gives you back the same bill(s) when you leave (provided there isn't any damage--which she's never charged me for). If nothing else, check out her web page as it gives good info on Rio. Enjoy the trip. |

If you want to stay where all famous people are you should stay in Leblon, Ipanema or Copacabana. But I recommend you to stay in Barra da Tijuca. There is this hotel called Sheraton. The Barra Sheraton is very fancy AND clean, in front of the beach, but you pay for it. They have rooms for
R$300 or less (sorry, I cant remember that well) about $150 dollars, lets say... But it is worth. Hope it helps! |
