Are Afro Brazilian Women On Average More Open To Dating/Marrying White Men When Compared To AfroAmerican Women?

I ask because I have a Black Brazilian female friend who is currently dating a White guy, and out of the 4 boyfriends she has had in her life so far, 3 of them were White including her current boyfriend and only 1 of them was Black. And also her sister is married to a White man and has 1 daughter with him.

In the United States it is not very common to see a Black American woman romantically involved with a White man.

I think Alberto is a little disillusioned about his country.
From this post and other posts I think he is racist and really wants to play down African descendants in his country. Shame on you Alberto.
From what I have seen Afro Brazilian women do tend to date White men more than in North America, skin color is not such a big deal as it is here socially.
It seems alberto's main message in his posts is that he is sooo white, soo european and that Brazil is soo white too rather than much about whatever the question is about.

Alberto, did you read this guy's question?
You act like your so scare that someone might think that Brazil has too many black people. HE didn't ask you about the race of Brazilians, or what your background was, or how many white people there are in Brazil.
He ask if Afro-Brazilian women are more open to dating White men - That's it.
You seriously act like you are defending Brazil against the percentage of black population it has. No one that I know thinks that brazilians are only black or only mixed. don't worry, most people who know anything about Brazil know there are various races there.
You hardly answered the man's question, if at all.
I've seen your other answers to other questions too, same thing.
Don't knock Rita's answer, it was 100% better than yours.

By the way, the percentage of mixed race people in Brazil (and I'm not just talking about Blacks mixed with white, I'm talking about anyone with a mix of white, black, asian, indian, hispanic with northern european etc..) is much higher than the percentage of "pure" raced people, and that is what makes Brazil and Brazilians beautiful, but I don't include you in that statement.

(For the record I'm AfroAmerican and half of my boyfriends were either white or mixed with something). But probably, yes they would. In Brazil almost everyone is a mix of something, including white. In most cases they don't judge too much on color. Just focus on being the right person for her in other aspects. Color shouldn't matter anyway, right? I think the only reason it's so uncommon in the U.S is due to the influence of elders that convince some of us AfroAmericans that we need to date inside our race (that's so outdated). You'd be surprised how many black women are totally hot for a white guy, but they are afraid of what the family response will be. But my cousin just married a white guy and the entire family absolutely adores him. So of course it's more common in Brazil since they're so mixed, but the U.S is getting there :)

And evident that in the U.S.A. is not common people different ethnic marry . In Brazil that that is common. I know a case of a married American with a black Brazilian that was harassed by the neighborhood by having married with her, they live in U.S.A.. There will be one day that you will understand that people are people independent of the color of the skin.
In other words you are racists.

Yes.. many saied no...but yes..more than in U.S.A., there are some places like Bahia where you will find more black persons....because of the collonization was from african people, so there obviouslly black woman will married more with black mans.
But.... is commun black and white persons mixed n here. My mother has european origins... an my dad 's all most black... so I'm like you guys would say 'mulata'.

i like it when brazilians say theyre not racist, when i've never been in a country where your degree of blackness (or whitensess) is so important as Brazil. Most of the people on TV are very white, and most of the servant class are very black

That's not true. The fact is that Brazil is a lot more liberal than the US, and has got a big mix of cultural influences. The famous "mulata" is the mix of the african and the european skin.

And don't forget there are many poor women in the touristic regions of Brazil (Rio, Salvador, São Paulo), and they all wants to change their lifes to better. Some of them dates american tourists to live in the US and have a better life. I don't think that's the case of your friend - maybe it's just coincidence -, but that's a sad truth.

Who told u that?
I used to live in Boston and saw many blacks/Whites together.
I believe the black, in that case, is racist.

Depends on where in the US you live. In the bigger cities of NY, NJ, CA, MI you'll see plenty of IR couples.

Rita,

Brazilians are not a bunch of mixed. Mixed are some 40% of population. We have a lot of pure blacks, pure Amerindians, pure asiatics and pure whites.

I know many families (mine, for example)with pure European ancestry that has nothing to do with black race, black ancestry or anything like this.

Brazil is a Nation of immigrants, so, nobody is a typical Brazilian. Due to this, everybody are equals and interracial relationships tend to be more accepted than in the USA, where some groups claims for a superior race.

Blacks are 7% of population (14 million) in Brazil. Whites are 50% (almost 100 million) but we have not "White supremacy" here, besides Brazil has the largest italians population (25 million of descendants) outside Italy, 3rd German population in the Whole World (18 million of descendants) and 3.5 million of Dutch, we have not nazi/facist groups working here.

Nicole,

I'm so racist that I have included many vidoes about blacks in my favorites videos...

I'm just giving an information. A information that, I'm sure, less than 1% of citizens in USA and UK have about Brazil. Most people in USA don't have a minimum idea about Brazilians. Some others believe in that stupid stereotypes of Hollywood: they are the whites, rich and tall, and Brazilians are latinos. Like a typical latinos (it is like them understand), Brazilians MUST be mestizos, poor, short and illegal. Stupid and dumb conclusion.

For most britons, Brazilians are all mullatos like the most players of the Brazilian soccer team. I just show you the other part. A part that some poeple ignore and others don't like.

I'm not an idiot. I know that the question is not about how many whites or how many black we have in Brazil. But, I put emphazis on the European descendant because some ignorants, simply ignore this fact.

I'm one of these descendants, but, poeple still insist in kill every trace of white race in Brazil. These morons can't do this using bombs or rifles, so, they uses statistics. Fake statistics to deny the existence of white race in Brazil. Whites become criminous. They (we) need to assume that we are pardoes to be not considered racists. Funny...

I have no blame if the reality is not like some people wish but, the fact is: Brazil is a multi ethnic nation. It's not a white nation or a black nation. Blacks are 7% and mixed are 42%. Not all mixed are black+whites. Many are amerindian+whites. Any problem?

What your interest to picture Brazil as a black nation? I never pictured Brazil as a white nation, so, I don't understand your comment. But, if you want to deny, to make disappear the whites from Brazil, you are the racist.

I'm always saying that Brazil is multi ethnic.

NIcole (again),

I will try, once more, to make you understand: I ALWAYS USE ANY ANSWER TO NULLIFY ANY STUPID STEREOTYPE ABOUT BRAZIL. I USE ANY ANSWER TO MAKE GOOD PROPAGANDA ABOUT BRAZIL. And, many times, I don't care about the question.

I don't care if the question is about sex, tourism or music. I include a text about the economy, the ethinicity and every good thing that exist in Brazil. This is my way to make propaganda about the COMPLETE reality in Brazil. I do this, because I know that many stupid foreigners and a lot of stupid Brazilians (some of them passing for US Citizens, for example), LOVES to show the worst side of Brazil as THE OFFICIAL VERSION of the "Real life in Brazil". I'm tired of these idiots.

By the way: do you understand the purpose on Yahoo! Answers? No? The answers are read some weeks, months and years after we give it and many people consider the answers a true "text book" about a theme.

Imagine that I'm a potential tourist that wish to make a trip in Malaysia, for example. Imagine that I'm a complete ignorant about that country and I do my "research" just here, on Yahoo" Answers.

So, I read some answers with the tag "malyasia": the fist answer say "there's high AIDS rate in Malaysia". I think "Ok! I will not walk around with a hook".

The second answer say" Malaysia is extremelly poor and tourist are robbed at any corner". Well, I'm not an idiot to travel from Brazil to the other side of the World to be robbed. So, I cancel my dream to visit that country.

Believe me, many stupid people make the same bad propaganda against Brazil, but I will give not any chance for these guys.

People interested in Brazil are looking for everything posted about Brazil. Some of them may to create a very bad impression about a whole nation due to a foolish posted by a great ignorant that pose as an expert in Brazil. I prefer to give no chances for morons to post something about Brazil. So, I use the answers to make propaganda based on facts.

I Invite all to know more about the reality in Brazil watching my favorites videos in my Youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=AllAboutBrazil&view=favorites

Rita
Brazilians are racially very mixed. A white person might have a black ancestor and a black person might have a white ancestor. That's because Portuguese colonization was made by many men moving to the new land leaving women and children behind in Portugal. Indian women to wed would be given to these Portuguese men as a gift. Also black women slaves were used to satisfy white men's sexual pleasures. Even white men that lived with his entire family in the colony would secretly have sexual relations with African women slaves that took care of the house. Very different from the British colonization that had very high religious values on family and moved to the new land with their entire families.
All those people being born out traditional wedlock led to the racial diversity in Brazil. Today we don't regard IR marriage as something alien. Besides, the US is very black and white, so to speak, in that even if a black person has a white mother that person is still considered black. In Brazil it's a bit harder to tell to what race he or she belongs to. What you might call black to us is just "pardo" or "moreno". Sometimes only afterward I realize the "blackness" of a certain person. So if a IR couple decides to get married in Brazil, their different color will usually be no big deal at all. However, I don't want to pretend that racism doesn't exist in Brazil, because I've seen it happen here myself. I've seen some racial prejudice happen regarding IR marriage among other things. But it's in a lesser extent than the racism that exists in the US.

What still gets some Brazilians is the idea of people from opposite social classes being married. Almost no wealthy person in Brazil wants to see their sons or daughters marrying very poor people (and those, unfortunately, have darker skin in majority). On the other hand, to poor people in Brazil, being able to marry a wealthy person is good whatever color they are.

Alberto
You should brush up on your reading comprehension skills. I said "A white person MIGHT have a black ancestor and a black person MIGHT have a white ancestor." If you're familiar with the word "might", you will know it's a probability which implies also "might not". Of course I know not all Brazilians are mixed. I'm Brazilian, for heaven sakes! My mother's side is Portuguese and Dutch. My dad's side is Portuguese and one black ancestor which no one is sure who he was but his genetic traits shows up in his family. My husband's side is Portuguese and Italian. So a white person such as myself MIGHT have black genes. OR might not, such as my husband. Got what I'm trying to say? Tá muito engraçado você me dando um sermão sobre a raça brasileira sendo que eu sou uma brasileira nata que mora no Brasil desde sempre. Vc me parece muito estressado, Alberto. Tome uma maracujina. :-D
