Ok! Let's go!
I'm from Brazil and I'll show you what I think about living here.
The way of life in Brazil will depend of the region you are. So I'll show you my perspective about Brazil according as my region.
I'm at Northeast region. It's hot, beaches, summer all the year etc. I live at Aracaju (the capital of the state of Sergipe) and it's calm to live here. It's not a big city like Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
As in all the places of the world, the violence is present here. I just think the media from Brazil and from another countries like to show the Brazil as the "violence country", "the violence is the king of Brazil". No, it's not. The media show for the other countries what the people like to see.
Continuing...The Brazil beaches are really, really, really, beautiful. We have several places that they are the most beautiful of the world, according as very magazines, newspapers from all the world.
Our culture is diversified. Several religions: Roman Catholic, Protestant, Candomblé etc. I know that the tourists when they arrive in their countries, they say: "Oh! Brazil is beautiful! Everyone is together." No! This is a lie. For example: Roman Catholics and Protestants are ever saying that their religions are the true, the correct etc. Nor Roman Catholic neither Protestants like Candomble. They say: "No! We respect all the religions." LIARS!
Stigmas that I think the tourists must take out of their minds: Brazil is a country without laws; here is like Amsterdam; the Brazilian people don't like to work (if they don't like, why is it an emergent country?); here is the sex country; Brazil is like Sodom and Gomorrah. Hello! Brazil is the fifth biggest country of the world. Imagine if it doesn't laws.

I live in Rio de Janeiro, in spite of living in the north area of the city (it is not tourist area) I like a lot of here, I have a lot of transport options, the neighborhood that I live is very calm, the only thing that I don't like are of the slopes. My street is a great slope, we have to be in good form physics to walk for the streets of the neighborhood. My neighborhood is exclusively residential. I work downtown. when it is not in the rush hour I am expend only half hour to arrive in the work, but when it is hour of returning am expend a 1 1/2 hour of travel. In Méier (my neighborhood) has an expressed highway in the which I am long15 minutes to arrive in Barra da Tijuca that is a very beautiful beach in the area west of the city. I am a little sad because there were elections for mayor and my candidate (Gabeira) lost for less than 1% of the votes. He is an excellent political and Rio de Janeiro lost a great chance that to have a good administration. But it is like this a they win others lose.

It is very beautiful.
You have to be quite well off to have a good standard of living so there is less equality than I am used to.
The majority of people are very friendly but like I said there is a lot of inequality so you can't let your guard down easily.
Brazilians are very conscious of how people look and as a result they can be a little prone to materialism but not in a bad way, it's just the way they are.
It is a wonderful country, with great people and it is a very nice place to live!
