OKAY.
I moved to Brasil and reside in a city just outside of Rio de Janeiro. I love it. You have to be smart as in any big city. Don´t whip out your money, cell phone, ipod, camera, ect. in the street. Only use your camera in tourist areas (which will probably be the only places that you visit). Keep large amounts of money in your pocket. Don´t go wandering through the favelas (slums).

Brasil is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. The poverty is saddening but nothing to keep you out of the country! You won´t regret coming here:) If you´re stopping off in brasil with a cruise.. they will likely set up tours and whatnot with you. Take advantage of these if you are too scared to go off by yourself

i love brazil...brazil is very nice country...
yeaah it is ceartainly paradise...but all country a paradise for citizen
for example turkey is paradise for me...because i am live in turkey
and Nicoool you are very lucky because you live brazil...

It is a VERY beautiful place! I have been there 3 times. In the Rio area, I never saw one crime!

There is a real rich/poor divide between the people there. But just don't have valuable belongings on show, do not go in to the poor areas and avoid speaking english too loud
If its one of the big cities you will be visiting treat it like any big city. Just use common sense.

I am Brazilian and I live in Rio of January.
I will be sincere with you.
I would be lied if I said you that in Rio de Janeiro robbery doesn't exist, but everything that happens here is published in way distorted in the exterior.
I will gave an example.

A train loaded of electronic apparels derailed in a close of the city rural area. Some inhabitants of that area plundered the train and they took the apparels of TVs and of sound, to do that they used coaches. The report that left in foreign newspapers was the following.
Thieves to horse they stole the passengers of the train of Sugar Loaf.

I am putting the picture of the Sugar loaf for you to see if that possibility exists.

There is robbery against tourists that insist on exhibiting jewels and cameras and wallets full of dollars. The discreet tourists walk for the city and they are not noticed, they make purchases in the stores and in the shopping center calmly and safety, using the common sense that would be the same as you would use in New York or in San Francisco. Rio de Janeiro is a city of the size of New York has eight million inhabitants and it is simply wonderful, we have a lot of inequality social and they are visible because the rich ones live beside the poor. They happens that the rich ones live close to the sea and the poor occupied the mountains that are covered by forests. Rio de Janeiro has the largest urban forest of the world.

We have problems, but the city is inhabited and policing and you have will see that.
Be wellcome and be right that you will see landscapes that nor it can imagine.

All country exist violence. Brazil have problem too. Rio de Janeiro is pretty city, but really not safe. You no need enter in "favela" or walk in center city alone hum?
Have pretty beach here. Fortaleza, Recife, Porto de Galinhas (paradise), Morro de São Paulo ..... Look in net.
