The closest language from original latin is italian, from the fact that latin ir originaly from Rome. As Portugual been so close to Italy, portugueses also are very close to the original latin, and most of them speak latin! ;-)
Portugal was the country that discovered Brazil.. and thats why brazilians speak portuguese. (the portuguese from Portugal and Brazil are little different, but very very simular).
