Actually the Pan-American Highway runs from the US to Panama, but stops in a place called the Darien Gap, which is a protected wilderness area on the Panama-Colombia border. The only way get into Colombia in Panama is boat or air, unless you have a serious 4WD and are willing to break a number of local laws. Also, the area has a reputation for being home to many drug smuggling gangs, so not the safest way.
After Colombia, I believe it is possible (if difficult) to drive to Rio. |

I've heard that once you get into central america...that's it for you. It's better to get a plane. |

no.. i dont think so.. i'd say it would be dangerous.. i'm not.. but there might be a cap between continents.. maybe around panama ..
if you were really up to it.. u would have to do ALOT of research .. ! about all the countries you would have to go through.. the climites.. conditions.. conditions of the lands and/or roads... u'd have to go through the Andes Mountains.. and maybe the Amazon..
i really dont think its worth all the trouble ..
sidestep.com is the cheapest site i've found for international travel by plane
Boa Sorte |

Uhhh...nope. Not unless someone has a car that can operate under water. |

It is possible. The only problem is that you would have to drive through Colombia and (provided you survive that...) then through the Amazon basin. Many mountain roads are treacherous to say the least.
That's why there are airplanes, silly. |
