Brazil's government laws are extremely harsh when it comes to $$ transactions. And they are picky with Amex!

I suggest calling your customer service department and advising them of this issue so they can verify if support needs to be granted to your card.

Good luck!

You should be able to use your card in Brazil.

However, the automatic fraud monitoring will typically deny foreign transactions especially if you have never made any foreign transactions on your account. It's done as a protection in case someone steals your card number. Anytime I travel overseas, I call customer service and tell them the dates that I will be overseas so that they don't deny my foreign currency transactions.

If your card was not issued in Brazil, call Amex at your home country and let them know you are here.
It happened to me several times while traveling. It´s safety precautions of the system.
Amex operations in Brazil were recently acquired by Bradesco, which is the largest bank in Brazil and one of the largest worldwide. With that they are reaching an even broader market.
Its the best card for sure.

Yes we can, but other cards such as visa or master became more acceptable in Brazil.
I had amex once for an year but I give it back because I was able to use only at wal mart
happy new year!!!

Dont worry man, Brazil is a country like any another, with a modern bank system and everything that you have in the USA. Your credit card just need to be INTERNATIONAL. However, AMEX is not a so much acceptable credit card (there arent in so many stores). There, they use more VISA and MASTERCARD.

Go ahead!!!
