Carnival in Brazil. What to expect? |
My boyfriend has had a life long dream of going to Carnival coming up in February. I know no one on here knows our relationship, but we really trust each other. I would love to go to it also one day. But this was one of my to-do's before he and I met.He thinks he's going to go have a wild time and its just going to be so much energy he might have sex with whomever is in the moment with him. Does this really happen? I can imagine how wild and fun and powerful and exciting it is. But does this stuff happen? Like is it a wild flashy swingers party? Sorry to say it that way. But I want him to go, since its his dream. But I also don't really like knowing he's mixing body paint with some other person... What should he expect? Or me if I went? Additional Details Geez, for those thinking he's going to hook up with a prostitute, that has nothing to do with it. He was talking about the energy of everyone dancing and having a good time. He isn't going to go for just sex, just for the energy of Carnival. He was thinking it was almost primal at times. Not a whore house. I guess I should have asked if people hook up a lot there or is it just a good party? I'd go with him, but he's wanted to do this before we met and I'm all about pursuing your dreams... just wanted to know what he can actually expect there. |

I'm sorry to disappoint you but wtf, people don't do sex in the street or even walk naked on the Carnaval. We Brazilians don't need foreign to contribute to such degrading thing like prostitution. We are not obsessed with sex,CARNAVAL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX.You foreign see sex in everything you see you perverts.I'm sorry if i have been rude with you but this issue is something that annoy every single Brazilian,it's a disrespect to our country,i don't have words to describe my frustration.I hope one day this stereotype will end and i really hope your boyfriend to not come here never. =P
For making things clear to you about how the things work down here,i would like you to read this article on this blog from an American girl from New York living in Rio de Janeiro and read what she writes about the Carnaval.

Carnival here, he will find what he is looking for, but why don't you come down with him??? it would be great for you to experience it too....
there is a lot of prostitution here, it is not illegal...
but you can't have a good happy relationship you don't trust him to
make the right decisions on their own..
so encourage him to go, and if he is the type of guy who would sleep
with a prostitute, are you the type of girl who would want to be with that type of guy???
he probably won't if he WANTS to stay faithful to you...
he can still come here and look, and not touch, and still have a
good time.
FYI few people are naked on the streets here.. if they are its supposed
to be for artistic value not sexual stimulation (sort of) |
