We have cars in Brazil burning ethanol, gasoline, natural gas and diesel oil. The last decade a new technology was invented, called 'flex fuel' or 'total flex', and the cars equipped with that technology can use both ethanol or/and gasoline. My car, for example, is 'total flex', and I also adapted it to burn natural gas, so I can use 3 different fuel. I can order to fill one of the tanks with any combination of ethanol and gasoline, and the second with natural gas.

Brazilian ethanol comes from sugar cane, most efficient way discovered until this moment to make ethanol. In our country only 12 % of the land is used for agriculture, so we have enough land available for food and ethanol.

we make ethanol after sugar cane. and in the past our cars used to be either by gas or ethanol. but nowadays (it's been like 8 years or so) that they are hibrid, and they are called "flex". they run by both and you may mix them in any proportion you would like. but when you go to a gas station you must say what you wanna put in your car. only old cars run by only one of them i guess.. everybody i know uses flex cars.

The flex vehicles can run on both petrol as with ethanol.
The ethanol in Brazil is made from sugar cane, which is ground, the broth through a process of fermentation and then is distilled.
In cars that run on gasoline, about 25% of ethanol mixed. There are also cars that run solely on ethanol.
In Brazil, the production of biodiesel, which is made with diesel mixed with vegetable oils is already being developed.

All I know about (some) cars in Brasil is that their gas tank is behind the back seat the size and shape of a propane tank
