I agree! It should not have even been on the voting ballot! Borobudur wasn't on the ballot, and it's a much better choice!
These were all better choices that did not make it:
-Timbuktu, Mali
-Angkor, Cambodia
-Acropolis, Greece
-Moai Statues, Easter Island
-Alhambra, Spain
-Kiyomizu Temple, Japan
-Hagia Sophia, Turkey
-Kremlin, Russia
-Stonehenge, United Kingdom
Christ Redeemer should have been at the bottom, along with these:
-Statue of Liberty
-Eiffel Tower
-Sydney Opera House
-Neuschwanstein Castle
Those were all poor choices. They simply have less history, and therefore are not the most worthy candidates. |

Yes and I am so happy for it! I didnt expect it, and I didnt voted for it. If you have been there, and see it with your own eyes, it's an amazing statue. The story behind the building is amazing and the fact that you can see the statue from any place in Rio is fabulous. And it also stands for Christianity and its a way of saying that Christ is always there to protect Rio. The statue itself is carved in stone and it is a work of art. At night you can see it on top of Corcovado mountain and it li lit so you always see Christ watching Rio. |
