Mountain Girl

Curitiba, Brazil - how safe is it to live there?

Hi
We are thinking seriously about relocating to Curitiba in Brazil and want to know people's opinions about how safe a place it is to live in. Also, are there any areas to specifically look in or avoid if we wanted to rent accomodation? I personally love the idea of living somewhere out of the centre, perhaps with some land etc. But people have said that it is better to try to live in an apartment or a gated condominium.
What do people think?

Well, Curitiba it's a very safe city. The people living in peace and don't worry in live only on apartment or gated cndominium. Just don't live on marginal places, ok!

Gustavo CL
Yes, not all Brazilian cities are like Rio de Janeiro. Obviously it's not safer as European cities but it's definitly something that you should not worry about.

Middle-class people in Brazil tends to live nearby the center in the conditions you mentioned. It's safer, practical, everything you want is nearby you (stores, schools, cinemas, etc). But anyway... each one has its options.
