Brazil is my favourite country in the world , I have returned there seven times .
Why : The Brazilians are extremely friendly , and I have been on long bus rides and complete strangers have insited in paying my drinks.
Their music is great:
Brazil has a very rich music tradition. The Brazilian music originates from mixing the styles of European colonists with the styles of African slaves and -to a lesser degree- the styles of the Amerindians.
Samba is the Brazilian style of music that everybody knows. It is famous throughout the world. Bossa Nova is well-known among jazz enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the Brazilian music does not get the international attention to which it is entitled. Who learns more about Brazilian music, discovers a new world of sounds, styles and rhythms varying from classical music to hiphop-like styles.
Famous Brazilian styles of music are:
Axé
Bossa Nova
Capoeira music
Choro
Música Popular Brasileira or MPB
Pagode
Samba
Tropicália
Food in Brazil is excellent and Cheap.
The potions are large .
The food is different in the various regions of Brazil>
It a fusion of my many styles.
The Brazilians blended ingredients and recipes from various continents long before Europeans and North-Americans spoke about fusion kitchen
It's a mixture of European, and African and Japanese.
In cities the kilos restaurant where the restaurants serve a buffet style food and you pay by the weight .This has replaced the American fast food places.
In the North you have the Amazon , which is the world's greatest rainforest.
Brazil has so many great beaches , they are too many to list.
Also you have many cities that are protected by UNESCO, because of the beautiful historical buildings :
Salvador, Paraty, Olinda, Sao Luis and the gold cities in Minas Gerais
Also Brazil has the greatest football team (soccer team) in the world.
Brazil has some of greatest Artists in the World and
cities like Rio and Salvador are fanastic to visit and enjoy |

Yes, Brazil is very beautiful. You should visit. I think Rio de Janeiro. In the south they are Brazilians too however they are grandchildren of German and Italian people. Listen, advice of a Brazilian. If you really want know Brazilian culture visit Rio, Bahia or Nordeste. |

I have never been to Brazil but read a lot about it and was interested in going (I am reading too much about crime now, so may change my mind). However, as an African American I have no interest in going to Southern Brazil. Why would I go to Brazil to see a bunch of Germans and Italians? If I wanted to see European style cities I would go to Europe.
I am interested in visiting the northeastern part of the country and of course I have to do an obligatory stop in Rio. |

Ray, really depends on your Budget. Brazil is big and air travel not only expensive, but lately there´s been a lot of problems with air controlers, backing up airports, etc.
I always say, beging with Buzios, fly to Rio, from there it´s a 2 hour drive. Buzios is a small peninsula with some 20 beaches, very friendly, very nice, safe, etc.
Some 300 inns of the most varied prices (I recomend Abracadabra Pousada, they are online). They can also arrage tranfer from Rio international to the inn for about 30 dollars or so.
Dont miss Rio as well, but stay away from Copacana, best place to stay would be, in my opinion, Leblon. |

Yes. Brazil is a very beautiful country and you must to visit as soon as possible.
The best part is the South: european look and climate.
There are many german, italian, polishes and russian towns in the Brazilian South.
I recommend Gramado, and all Serras Gaúchas, in the Rio Grande do Sul state. If you want something coldest, you can goes to the "Serras Gaúchas", very nice european look places.
The best places are Canela e Gramado (there's a chocolate festival this weekend), best known by their Cinema festival. There, are, also, a tonw in miniature. Good for pictures.
Pomerode and Blumenau in the state of Santa Catarina and Curitiba in the state of Paraná are very beautiful. Both have a great presence of descendants of Germans, but in Curitiba, you can see thousand of ucranians, polisher and Italians, also.
But you must to visit Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro city and all the state of Rio de Janeiro). You must see Petropolis (you will find there a big organ and a famous hotel called "QUITANDINHA"); Teresópolis (from the main avenue you see a mountain called "Dedo de Deus", that means, God's finger) or, you can see, also, the "Granja Comari", a beutiful place used by the national brazilian football (soccer) team ; Nova Friburgo (a german town); Penedo (a town founded by immigants from Finland. Very nice!) Itatiaia and Resende, where you can find the "Pico das Agulhas Negras" and the Army's academy (AMAN); Cabo Frio, Araruama and Búzios, all with very good beaches. |
