I recommend Vanna at "www.vannarioflats.com.br". Used her about 12-15 times and never had any problems. She needs a security deposit in US$/Euros/cash, payable when you get there/sign the contract, and the receipt is part of the contract. Don't worry, she keeps your money in a safe at her place and gives you back the same bills (provided there is no damage to the place). I've never had any problems and she will help you, tell you where to avoid, current scams, etc. She wants tourists to enjoy Rio.

Outfit owned by a very nice American guy. Very helpful in all aspects of your visit ... from where to eat while in town, to getting transportation to and from the airport, etc.
They have a North American phone number so you can call Brazil and make arrangements without spending an arm and a leg!
