Take the bus - they are cheaper and really quite comfortable. I travelled Rio to Sao Paulo and slept the entire way - they even gave me a packed lunch, blankets and drinks. There is a problem with air travel here at the moment with long delays so I would definately recommend taking the bus.
Aww, it's not THAT bad, but.... Pluma is the bus company that has the Foz do Iguaçu-Rio de Janeiro market. They run two conventional buses a day. The noon departure gets to Rio the next morning at 11:45; the 6:45 p.m. gets there the next afternoon at 4:25. It costs about $80 for a seat. How're them apples?
The airplanes' descent to the (truly) downtown airport in Rio (SDU) sure looked spectacular ... from Flamengo beach. Chin, chin!
