I've lived there twice. It's an awesome city! Lots of culture, very nice people, beautiful beaches. My favorite place near Salvador is a city called Morro de Sao Paulo. It's a 4 hour boat ride from Salvador but it is total paradise!

Yes, I do!
Salvador was the first capital of Brazil.
It's a beautiful city. Different cultures, different people, different religions etc. It's really cool!
Recommended places to visit: Farol da Barra, Dique de Tororó, Itapuã, Pelourinho.
If you wanna visit another place in Bahia I recommend: Morro de São Paulo (Cairu), Porto Seguro, Chapada Diamantina, Recôncavo Baiano, ilha de Itaparica (it's an island that you can see in the other side of the Todos os Santos Bay). Ok?

Biggest African city out of Africa.
really cool
a lot of music
people with a real will for happiness
warm sea water
spicy, heavy food - very African
lots of cultural attractions
good hotels
Best Carnival in the world if you like to be together with a big human crowd jumping and sweating like a 'social howling milieu' or something like that. Otherwise Rio´s Carnival is better.

The first colonial capital of Brazil, the city is one of the oldest in the country and in the New World.

Salvador is the third most populous Brazilian city, after São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and it is the eighth most populous city in Latin America, after Mexico City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Lima, Bogotá, Rio de Janeiro and Santiago, Chile.

Salvador is notable in Brazil for its cuisine, music and architecture, and its metropolitan area is the wealthiest in the northeastern region of the country.

The historical center of Salvador, frequently called the Pelourinho, is rich in historical monuments dating from the 17th through the 19th centuries and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.

A particularly notable feature is the escarpment that divides Salvador into the Cidade Alta ("Upper Town") and the Cidade Baixa ("Lower Town"), the former some 85 m (275 ft) above the latter.

Salvador has a typical tropical climate, with warm to hot temperatures and high relative humidity throughout the year.

Salvador is located in a region of tropical rainforests.

The city's name, São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos, is the Portuguese for "Saint Savior of All Saints' Bay".

Salvador is the second most popular tourist destination in Brazil.

The local cuisine, spicy and based on seafood (shrimps, fish), strongly relies on typically African ingredients and techniques, and is much appreciated throughout Brazil and internationally.

Capoeira is a unique mix of dance and martial art of Afro-Brazilian origin, combining agile dance moves with unarmed combat techniques. Its origins go back to the times of slavery, and Salvador is considered the centre of origin of the modern capoeira branches.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the carnival or Carnaval of Salvador de Bahia is the biggest street party on the planet.
