Goiania, Curitiba, and Santa Maria?

Hi,
I have a teen who may be going on an exchange to Brazil. The program mentions Goiania, Curitiba, and Santa Maria as places they may be sent to.........
Can anyone tell me about these places? (I have looked them up on a map:)

The good, the bad and any interesting things I should know?
One better than the other? All are inland so no ocean activities but she is very excited about visiting Brazil.
Thanks for any information:)

Hi, I live in Santa Maria, it´s a very nice city, it´s known as ´´Student city´´, cause here are lots of universities, colleges, a big variety os courses, a good place for who wants to study... it´s near the Rio Grande do Sul capital, wich is Porto Alegre... I like living here, but Curitiba is a bigger city, more variety of things to do (restaurants, malls) and things are more expensive too (food, clothes, rent). Goiania is nice, I´ve been there last year, it´s a big city, you won´t get bored there, but it´s very hot, you sweat all day long... Santa Marias´ weather is well defined, a little bit cold in winter, unlike Goiania, wich is hot during all the year... And the distance from Santa Maria to the beach of Capão da Canoa, is around 400km ... If you decide Santa Maria, e-mail me, I´ll be glad to help whatever you need.

Hello!!!
Well, I live here, in Brazil, and I've been in Goiania and I didn't like it because it's too hot and there don't have good places to visit, I've never been to Santa Maria, and I have no idea where it is, but I LOVE Curitiba, there is clean, beautiful, have many places to go, many restaurants, touristic places and beautiful people.
The best place to go, from this 3 places, is Curitiba

-Curitiba= It´s the biggest one, and the closest to ocean of the 3 cities mentioned.
It´s the capitol city of Paraná State. The city have 1,8 million people (3,6 million in Metro area).
It have a strong German background, and it´s the coldest Capitol city weather in Brazil.

-Goiânia= It´s the capitol city of Goiás State. The city have 1,3 million people (2 million in Metro area).
It have a countryside flavor...somewhat like Texas in US. It´s the warmest, but the most distant of ocean of the 3 cities mentioned.

-Santa Maria= It´s not a State Capitol, and is the smallest of the 3 cities mentioned. It have 1/3 of million people living there. It´s 300km far from Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul State Capitol)
Located at center the State, one of the most advanced in Brazil, in terms of quality of life and education.
It´s somewhat close to another very nice country to visity: Uruguay.
The city is home of the Federal University of Santa Maria, one of the best in whole country.
Have a hot weather in summer, but cold in winter.

In my personal opinion, I would choose Curitiba first, Santa Maria second and Goiânia third.

Good luck!
