Going to Brazil Questions and Tips?

I'm going to Brazil from the U.S.A.

Well I just got my VISA squared away so now I need to make plans. I Plan to stay for 20 Days In a Hotel...the isue is I've only got $2000 to live off of for 20 days. Will this be enough to Pay for Hotel, Food and Cab Fare??

i want to go when its hot and sunny but when the least amount of Tourists are there....whens the best time to go??

are beaches walking distances from the hotel??

how do i spot "Safe" Cabs?

How bad are the Slums? will i get robbed and killed on site?

Do i need any Immunizations before I Go?

What Are the Best Places in Brazil to go to( for beautiful woman??

Thanks

* Best places:
- Rio de Janeiro
- Northeast coast
- Beaches in Santa Catarina state (Camboriú, Guarda do Embaú)

* Yes, i do need immunizations to travel to Brazil.

* Time to go / walking distances from hotel / robbers / Safe Cabs

Keep in your mind the size of Brazil. Each region have different answers for this questions, you may define which one you'll go first. Anytime you can go to Brazil, there a lot of beaches and sunny cities even in the winter. About the cab, ask for in the hotel and they can arrange for you.

*U$2000??
You have to choose wich region you'll go but for most of them, this money should be ok. Not to live like a king, but enough to enjoy!

I recommend go to the beaches of the Northeast: Maceio, Natal and Fortaleza are hot and sunny all year.
Some hotels close the beaches and you pay only to visit other beaches.
Here, there's always the risk of assaults therefore never have a lot of money with you on outings. If, riding a cab, ask the concierge of the hotel called for it and negotiate the price before.
Regarding vaccination isn't necessary.
In Brazil, has beautiful women everywhere.

I don't recommend visiting the Rio de Janeiro because of the violence and an outbreak of serious infectious disease, and who was there.

The best you can do is buy a package tour there even in America. Then you already know how much to pay in the hotel and negotiate some tours.
In Maceio, the food and tours isn't expensive.

Good luck, dude.

Ipanema has recently been voted the best beach in the world..(travel channel)
check it out, on the weekends it is full of beautiful people (and some not so beautiful but definitley interesting people) during the week it isn't so busy because everyone is working...

By going to Rio de Janeiro you have both ipanema and copacabana beaches available...

there should be a variety of hotel available for a variety of prices

there is an awesome book available on amazon and at some bookstores RIO FOR PARTIERS-
it is loaded with good information- and a $$ saving discount card too.

bring bugspray with deet- recently there is a little mosquito problem, but deet takes care of it..
Bring Sunscreen- for some strange reason it is a bit pricey here...

flip flops is the norm here.
there is lots to do and see... food is reasonable.
beer is the same price as soda (and water)
don't drink the water here- bottled water is available everywhere.

the drug lords have the slums in control here, they know not to pick on the tourists... but all the same don't bring any expensive jewelry or items of value- you don't need it here anyways.

one way to recognize the safe cabs is they have the red license plates.. but generally cabs are safe-negotiate the price before getting in.

I don't think you need any immunizations before coming here, there is none for the Dengi fever - just bug spray to keep the mosquitos off- and even if you get bit- you most likely wont get it only a few carry the disease..

In Ipanema and copacabana, all the hotels are walking distance to the beach...
a good website is tripadvisor.com people write in reviews of places all over the world..

I've also heard Natal is beautiful. but havent been there
enjoy your trip... I think $2k is sufficent

2000 should be enough but don't get crazy with your money. The slums are bad I almost got into a fight with one of the peddlers their very aggressive when they approach you. DO NOT GET INTO ANY CAB THAT IS NOT CLEARLY MARKED AND MAKE SURE YOU NEGOTIATE A PRICE BEFORE YOU GET IN THE CAB. You do not want to be some one's hostage. Make sure you go with a buddy. I was in Salvidore Brazil in April 2007 and it was hot and humid I would suggest staying the hell out of Salvidore as well. I would recommend going to Rio. The people are very attractive. Hope this helps

Be careful. dont think much of yourself. remember, our country is a third world country despite the postcards pictures on the media. and dude, there are beautiful women everywhere. what makes you think a region is gonna have good looking women and other dont. who expected that girl from china or japan (lucy lue i think) to be hot. now if i go to her country, will i find ppl like her ? no. same with every country in the world. yeah and dont have a bad attitude, bring anything valuable or they will rob/kidnap you. just saying, know where youre going. peace !

1. i have been to Brazil and i suggest that you rent a apartment , hotels can be very expensive and your 2grand will go faster than you think(hidden charges on your bill......to be paid.. at check out time!)taxi rides ,food &water, entertainment,,,, and women! 2.take a shorter vacation .10 days, with the aparment you got off the internent.cooking your own food ,i never got sick drinking /cooking w bottled water , restruants were clean, cheap and the food is fantastic.eat out for dinner and visit the supermarket ,the people are friendly meeting women is not a problem . many people in brazil do not make $200.oo a month as i read somewhere only10 percent have wealth. i have found the people to be very freindly and they invited me to there homes, shared what they had and very willing to teach you what they can about there culture. travel with what you plan to spend for that day . leave the bling, bling at home! buy some handmade suverniers on the beach.dress casual wear and travel in april/may.taxis can be found at the hotels and please try to ride there underground train.stay away from the slums, ghetto aka favellas in brazill! for you own good they are ran by drug gangs and gaurded by youngmen as young as 12years old...with ak47,9 millimeters, sks assuault rifles!stay on the beaten paths in the tourist areas ,travel by taxi at night and respect the laws of the country.stay away from drugs there jails are packed elbo to elbo, some people lay on the floor and inside hammocks hanging from the ceiling. use caution but do not be paranoid .read educate yourself before you go. enjoy the trip!

your Dollar will last you longer away from the major cities, The hotel will be able to hook you up with cabbies, their ussually pretty good. Beware of guys approaching you saying that they know girls to have a good time. Don't boast about being a gringo, if you want to meet prostitutes ask the concierge for a BOATE or CASA NOCTURNA. Be careful with the dengue outbreak, bugspray ought be your best friend.

Your first problem is your visa. If it's a 5 year multi-entry tourist visa, you have to enter Brazil within 60 days of issue, which means you have to be in Brazil by June 12 or so. I'd recommend you stay in an apartment vice hotel if you are going for 20 days--cost will be cheaper, you have a larger room, larger refrigerator (for skol), more privacy. I use Vanna at www.vannarioflats.com.br. An apartment 1/2 block from Copacabana is about 80 reals (US$50)/night this time of year. Since half you money is going to a place to sleep, you don't have enough money to average US$100/day. With an exchange rate of US$1 = 1.65 to 1.70 Reals, and an inflation rate of about 15%, everything is going to cost. You might be able to squeeze by on US$100/day if your room is already paid or you don't mess that much with the women. I'd recommend US$200/day and that isn't living the luxury life. It's the start of their winter which means the temps will be in the 60s at night (cold for them) so don't expect lots of nice sites strolling by as you sit at a sidewalk cafe enjoying a chop. Most tourists stay in the Copacabana/Ipanema area and beaches are a couple blocks away--within walking distance. If you book an apartment through Vanna, tell her you want a place within X blocks of the beach (most of mine have been within 1/2 block). For a safe cab, use one that uses the meter, if the cab looks like junk don't get in, flag down another one. If you head for the slums, do so on a tour. They really aren't a location for wondering around on your own or you will get robbed at the least. You don't need any immunizations shots. Any place in Brazil has beautiful women. Brazilians love to flirt so find a nice sidewalk cafe, sit there and watch the women go by. They will notice you looking and strut their stuff extra and ask you if you mind them joining you for something to drink. Enjoy and good luck on making it there before your visa is invalid.
