I would stay somewhere close to Impanema. Their are two gay bars within walking distance (in the day time) near appoadoar (neighborhood), and the gay section of the beach is right there. i know there are a couple of possadas there (hostel like) that area bout 20-30 bucks a day, but now is starting to be off season so things should be cheaper. You also would be close to other clubs in the area.. and just so you know most bars are mixed espicially if electronic music is played. You should be fine if you head to the part of the beach with a gay flag (middle of impanema) I'm sure some of the boys speak english and will tell you what's hot that paticular night. |

I don't know about Rio, and I'm not gay myself, but I wanted to mention that sometime, for another vacation, you might want to visit Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It is gorgeous, and they have a lot of gay friendly bed and breakfasts and lots of culture! Have a great time, wherever you go! |

Definitely Ipanema. One of the postos (the posts that are like addresses on the beach) defines a gay area as well. |
