Has anyone ever been to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil?

What was it like down there? (I live in the US) Are there any special features or activities that happen there during the summertime? For girls, are there any cute boys???

*Also, what's the best hotel to stay in that's closest to the beach?*

I do not live in Rio, but I'm a Brazilian and I'm reasonably familiar with the city. Summertime is the best season to visit Rio, but remember: Rio's summer is between october and april. Sure, you can find many activities, like beach sports, nautical events, music concerts and so on all year long in Rio, but during the summer season everything is so much better! It is impossible to list everything interesting that happens in Rio in this small space: Rio de Janeiro is a major, world-class sport, music and cultural spot. There is the wonderful Brazilian food also, and I'm sure you'll be delighted by Rio's top-class bars and restaurants. Night life is where Rio really stands out. The night clubs and special events are really hot during summer. Nobody will be able to sigle out one hotel as Rio's best. There are so many of them (nearly all by the beaches), that you're better define a price range and look for the one that best suits you. But the best Rio feature by far is the city itself: it's just wonderful. The beaches are top-class, people are friendly and beautiful, sights are unforgettable.
Take a look at Rio's Tourism office website (in English): http://www.riodejaneiro-turismo.com.br/en/home.php

I've been three times and can't wait to go back. There's plenty to do, and doing nothing can be great. The people, guys and girls, are beautiful.

well for me to be honest, it's a place you will never forget.

I give you 3 things to see in RIO that you will always remember : Cristo Redentor statue, the Copacabana beach and the carnival of Rio (of course)

Cute boys, yes there are :">

San
I have been to Rio de Janeiro 3 times.

There are a lot of hotels by the beach, the first thing you have to do is to choose a beach you want to stay at like Ipanema, Copacaba, Praia da Tijuca and then you can start looking for hotels. (I would say those are the best 3 beaches there).

Have a great trip!
=)

.
no, i dunno where that place iz
