I lived there for five months last year in Ipanema. I loved it and loved the people. I miss it terribly. The people are so happy there and very physically fit. You can walk everywhere. It is like New York on the beach!. There is always something going on. The food is great also. It is not as dangerous as some have said - you just have to be careful not to be careless! Don't take or wear expensive jewelry and don't flash your cell phone or camera around. Just be aware of who is around you and don't walk in dark places late at night alone. And don't look like a tourist. Try to blend in. Good advise - the streets tend to be dirty so DO NOT go barefoot. You can pick up a parasite easy that way. There is a rhythm to the city that just fills you up. I tell everyone to go there and be changed.

I live in Brazil baby! Hey why did you cancel the question about the choice of living between Brazil and Argentina? Afraid of the winning of the 2nd option? Indeed it´d be very funny and a scratch on the brazilian pride!
