Help, what does CEP: mean in Brazil ?

Okay, so i am trying to mail a package to Fortaleza in Brazil...and this lady gave me this information:

cep:60.165-070

is that the zip code ? why is that way 60.165-070...

i looked up the zip code for Fortaleza and it came up as 60455.

Anybody from Brazil have an idea what that CEP: number is ?

Thanks.

CEP in Portuguese is "Código de Endereçamento Postal" - translated as Postal Code/Zip Code.

ocean.denis
Its a zip code
for a street in Fortaleza, State of Ceara.
Rua = street
Meireles is the name of the district or neighborhood.

Rua Silva Jatahy
Meireles
Fortaleza, CE

Now the house number you have to have.
www.correios.com.br is the site of the post office in Brazil, its very good, has english version and you can track registered mail, just like Fedex, DHL or UPS.

In Brazil, CEP is the zip code. In portuguese it is Código de Endereçamento Postal. If you don't know Fortaleza's CEP, write 70.000-000, the brazilian general CEP.

alberto
Yes. CEP means zip code.

Gigi
That's not how you write the Cep:
The correct way is: 60165-070 (no dots)

this is the postal code for a city. Every city and town in Brazil has its own CeP.

Cep is a kind of Zip Code.

Yes, it's the zip code, and the right way is 60165-070, not 60165, because this one is for the city, and the complet one is from a specific street from the city.

Like, my one is 88306-510, ok?

Take care

Oona S
Zip code.
