Assuming you live in the USA, do a web-search and look for the closets Brazilian consulate to where you live. (See the link I've given to you below). THEN, go to their website and read their guidelines for visas. There are several kinds of visas, ranging from tourist visas to student visas to business visas.

Once you read the requirements, I suggest you then contact a reputable travel agent in your area. Since obtaining a Brazilian visa CAN be slighly complicated, a local travel agent might help you a lot. This is especially true if the nearest Brazilian consulate is hundreds of miles away from where you live! In short, they can take care of having a courier hand-deliver your passport to the nearest Brazilian consulate. My travel agent charges $110 for the visa + $68 for the courier fee + $25 for their own processing fee. They'll waive the $25 fee if you buy an airline ticket with them at the same time. However, the $110 goes to the consulate and the $68 goes to the courier. At the present time Brazilian consulates REQUIRE that visas are obtained IN PERSON. So, either you have to go to the consulate yourself or you have to pay a courier to go for you. Unfortunately, you can't mail in your passport, application and money. Since I live 500+ miles from the nearest consulate the travel agent/courier option works best for me.

Below are a couple of links that might be able to help you. One is a link for Brazilian consulates around the world. The other is for the "tourist visa" area of the San Francisco office. This particular link will show you what it takes to get a tourist visa.

Good luck!!
