Brazil has had debt problems ever since 1829. In the 1950 and 1960 President Juscelino Kubitschek created an immense financial debt due, mostly, to the construction of the Brazilian capital which used many international loads. Over the years paying this debt became a problem due to a weak economy battered by incredible inflation rates. Up to the 1980's the debt affected society because a large portion of government public funds went to covering it's debt rather that tending to society's needs. Now the government's debt is much smaller, something like 20% compared to the previous 82%. After the soring Brazilian inflation was taken into control it became possible to fix many of the problems in the economy, but there are still many. I believe Brazil's foreign debt in the 90 wasn't to much felt by society. Rather, what still hinders our economy is the massive tax that makes new businesses almost impossible to grow to multinational levels. That is why informal economy in Brazil is big. Brazil's ability to pay it's debts has, if anything, been beneficial to society. It went up the list of countries to investment in and with that came more foreign investment which is beneficial to economy.
What causes regional inequality in Brazil? I can go back to the slave era as well to explain that Brazilians dislike work. To slaves work was torture and to white men work was unbecoming. Brazilians hate to work and we need to boost an entrepreneurial value if we want to see real progress along with major tax reduction and a better educational system. Why do we have to many poor people? Because many are uneducated and do not know the value of honest work. Plain and simple. |

1st you must understand that the colonization of Brazil was very different from the colonization of North America and totally different from the colonization of South America.

The African diaspora to Brazil
85,783,143 African slaves was Brought to Brazil.
In the humanity's history an only historical fact happened in Brazil, an European real court was transferred for another continent. The Portuguese Royal Family escaping from the Napoleonic invasion was transferred for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. you can imagine a country that 70% of their inhabitants was slave or Indians to receive a royal family. the social difference among those inhabitants was immense and it was larger although the Portuguese family returned for Portugal and they took all the wealth of the country. The formation of the Brazilian society was made by citizens that weren't considered human, they were illiterate, they didn't have notion of freedom, they didn't identify the land that they lived as their ownership. When there was the slaves' liberation was not given to them any compensation type or a incentive to begin the new life. while it existed a small descending society of kings and holders of the great part of the lands of the country, the great majority was descending of slaves without any social help. Then the great social difference among the inhabitants from Brazil.
In the eighties Brazil lived a period of hiper inflation. the economical reorganization became more difficult because the impeachment imposed president Fernando Collor de Mello, During his successor's government Vice president Itamar Franco elaborated a plan of control of the inflation that was implemented by the Economy Minister Fernando Henrique Cardozo that came to be president of the republic to succeeded the president Itamar Franco.
The plan consisted of the value of the Money float daily through an unit of reference (URV) when the value of the goods was stabilized the new Coin the REAL was instituted.
The stabilization of the coin was important for the society because it can settle down the real value of the work due to the inflation the society didn't have idea of as it was worth work and their properties.
The richest people could buy foreign coins (mainly the dollar) that warranty the stability of the value of their goods, however the poor people didn't have access the those coins that did with that they lost great part of the value of their wages still increasing more the social inequality among the Brazilians. |
