To study in a Federal University you will have to be approved in the admission test, and it is extremely difficult, only the best of the best are approved. If you don't have deep knowledge in Portuguese language won't be approved.
We make tests during the course of 2nd degree to accompany the learning degree and the best has advantages in the classification to enter in the University. If you are Afro-descending or Native American can ask to dispute reserved vacancies for ethnic reservation. However you can try to get a cultural exchange. I only know African student studying in exchange, they are from Mozambique and Angola, also of Timor Leste.
Private Universities are easier of being approved in the test, for that I understood you want to study Languages, the Brazilian government subsidizes who studies Portuguese language.
The monthly fee is of R$ 300,00 = / - US$ 150,00. |

Going to college in Brazil is wayyyyy different than going to college in the US. First you gotta ask yourself, are you going to try a federal university or a private university? Federal universities are really hard to get into. Private are easier and expensive. The language: you will learn it just leaving there. It won't give you a degree, but you'll still be able to learn it. |
