You can plan to expend around USD 100/day (hotel, meals and short trips to visit t places around Salvador)... Of course during the summer season the (dec-feb) the city is not so cheap.

No 5000 dolars is more than enough for 2 months Bahia is incredible and cheap trust me.... now if you can afford 5000 pounds hey whatta heck bring it you have a kings life for 2 months or even more. for 5 real or just about 2 dollrs you can have a feeling breakfast anywhere in brazil, and specially in bahia... Ibis Hotel is about 30 dollars a nite and is a execellent hotel www.ibis.com.br, but don´t call them from over seas call them as you arrive in brazil so you don´t get high rates.

the city is expensive because they depend on tourism as a whole city... but if you get food from the stands on the street from the Baianas like acaraje and stuff its not too expensive.
