Hello!
Well I would not say that Salvador is different from the rest of Brazil each place is unique,
lived there but now live in São Paulo,
there has many beaches, is also well known for its cuisine
the sights of Salvador are wonderful!

It is majority black, but so are most brazilians. My husband is Brazilian and he even say the most whitest brazilians have some form of African blood in them. That is just like how most of us African Americans have some form of white or Indian blood in us. I don't look white at all, but on my fathers side his great grandpa is white. Don't let them fool you. They have it in them, a lot of them are ashamed, but they do. There are many black women who had kids that came out look like they have no black in them at all. This will prove my point that it does and can occur. I will post a link for you to see.

Bahia is the part of 3 America closer of Africa and of Europe. In the past all of the ships for obligation stopped in Bahia to restock and later to continue the trips. Like this being was the place where more received slaves originating from of Africa. Bahia was the place where the Portuguese arrived for the first time in Brazil, where it was celebrated the first mass, it was the first Brazilian capital, had great economical influence because of the plantation of the cocoa and of the cotton.
It is simply beautiful,

Well! It will depend how is your point of view. But I think you're talking about culture, colors etc.
Salvador is the place with most black people out of the Africa in the world. It's localized in Bahia.
The culture of Salvador is seen with a bit of prejudice because of the religions. As you know, Brazil is the most Roman Catholic country in the world and in Salvador many people follow the Candomblé (an African religion). Did you understand the difference?
The music is one of the powerful points. The Axé is a musical style created there and one of the most heard in Brazil.
I think beyond this, nothing of important. It's a capital of a state, it's one of the Brazilian metropolis etc.
