Samian's Sixth Account

I'm South Asian/Indian-looking...if I ever visited Brazil, would the people stare at me (in a bad way)? 8-)?

I'm American, but an ethnic Bengali...and I'm guessing Brazilians are either white or Hispanic, yes? So I was wondering if they would stare at me as if I were a space alien if I wanted to visit someday )))

Brazil is one country that mix almost all races in its genetic pool, it has Germans, Swedish, Galicians, Portuguese, Black, Native South American, italian, japanese, middle eastern, Chinese etc.

Unlike the USA this groups are very integrated, so a lot mixing happened, and mix race marriages are the most common thing.

You probably will be confused with a local by some Brazilians and some people will recognize your Bengali looks.

By the way what the USA call "HISPANIC" is not really a race but a mix of races that include white mediterranean, Black, and a lot of Native American, ( north central and south), and it can be the mix of two or three of the above or the mixing of the combination of the above.

My cousin is from Brazil and she looks a little indian but has dark skin. Brazilians consider her to be Mixed amerindian and they will probaly think the same way about you. Just act yourself.

My wife gets looks all the time. Men look at her 'cause she is Asian. In Korea people speak to her in Korean, in Mexico people think she is Mexican, in Europe people think she is Italian, in Hawaii people think she is Thai or Filipino. Very few guess she is Japanese. Smile and drive everyone crazy.
