Overall it's cheap. Certainly cheaper than Rio or Sao Paulo by about 20% or more. This of course excludes prices you'd pay in high end resorts or restaurants. It's a beautiful place, enjoy!

Fast Pace
Cheap if u stay in a cheap hotel and expensive if u can afford one!

I was in Natal - September 2007. It's a beautiful place.
It's few expensive to eat at Natal, a portion of shrimp or lobster cost more or less U $ 25.00 to $ 35.00. A beer costs of $ 1.40 for $ 2.00.

Patinhas de carangueijo =R$ 15,00
CaipĂrinha = R$ 7,00

Alcohol in Brazil is very cheap comparing to any European country because (unfortunately) the taxes are lower (but we Brazilians don't smoke like the Europeans and drink a bit less). As for food, in Brazil you can eat like a pig and spend very little almost everywhere!
