I Want My Brazilian Citizenship To Be Revoked, How Would I Go About Doing That ? |
I have dual citizenship in both the U.S and Brazil. But I am more proud of my American roots. Where do I go to legally disown my Brazilian citizenship ? My last name is American and I racially look more like my American father than I do my Brazilian mother. And I was culturally raised an American. I don't listen to samba music and I don't play futebol. That is why I want to 100% distant myself from Brazil because I have absolutely have nothing culturally in common with Brazilians what so ever. |

have u even ever been to Brazil ? .. IF not you're pretty naive
its very odd someone would want to give up their citizenship .. It doesn't matter if u give it up or not .. YOU Are STILL Brazilian .. Its in your blood.. its in your genes .. giving up a piece of paper isn't going to change anything ..
I also dont listen to samba .. or play *futebol* there is soooooooooooo much more to Brazil then those things. Brazil .. just like the US is so diverse .. its like someone saying.. they have nothing in common with the US.. when thats almost impossible. Brazil is 1 of my most amazing countries i've EVER been too .. the people .. the architecture .. the scenery etc is nothing less then AMAZING ..
I'm 1/2 cajun and 1/2 brazilian .. grew up in New Orleans.. I was also mainly brought up American/Cajun but that doesn't mean I cant learn and appreciate Brazils culture. I'm 25 now .. and I visited my family on the Brazilan side for the 1st time when I was 21 .. and have been back several times since.. and let me tell you .. it was THE best decision I will probably ever make in my life ..
Its quite sad to think someone wants to give up on who they are ..
it would certainly greatly depress me if i didn't have my brazilian side |

Because all Brazilians do is sit around listening to samba and play futebol.
I'm an American that moved to Brazil in April, and trust me, it's a beautiful place you should be so proud to have roots in. Be proud to be American, be proud to be Brazillian. You can't have a dual-citizenship unless you're born with it, I would keep such a special treasure, it may just come in handy to you someday. |

Oh yes, we Brazilians have only two things on our minds: Futebol and Samba. For somebody who's part Brazilian, you sure are very stereotypical. I have a dual citizenship in the U.S. and Brazil, since I was born in Brazil but then legally moved to the U.S. when my mom's company transferred her to work in the Florida headquarters (I was around three). I'm 19 now and I've grown up in the states. I speak Portuguese (albeitly with my strange American accent) and I visit my family in Brazil every couple of years.
I h-a-t-e futebol. I think it's boring as hell. I like samba music, but I wouldn't call it my favorite genre. God, that must mean I'm not a true Brazilian, doesn't it? Not every Brazilian is crazy about futebol and samba music is not what tops the charts there. Whenever I go there and I watch MTV (yes! They have their own MTV! You must be shocked : / ), the Top 10 songs are usually either rock, pop, and rap music. And they listen to American singers too (U2, Madonna, and the Black Eyed Peas are super popular there).
And you should be happy you have dual citizenship! I'm proud that I could easily live in two different countries. And so what if you were culturally raised as an American??? English is my first language, I speak in English with my mom most of the time, and I grew up with American customs, BUT my parents taught me to also appreciate my Brazilian heritage. It seems like your parents didnt do the same for you. I'm proud to be Brazilian and I'm also proud to be an American citizen. Why do you have to choose to be only one? It makes you seem very narrow-minded, and just a bit prejudice if I do say so myself.
Whether you like it or not, you'll always be part Brazilian. And it's kind of sad you want to "disown" a part of yourself. Have you ever even been to Brazil??? Trust me, once you go there, you'll understand. :) |

Really with the so narrow vision you doesn't deserve to have the Brazilian citizenship please do us a favor of asking the Brazilian Embassy to revoke your citizenship, you should be a terrible son, who is shame of their ancestors has shame of himself. |

Easy. Just write a letter to the Brazilian consulate, explaining the reason why and what you want (revoke your citizenship), be sure to send your Brazilian passport with your petition.
I hold 3 passports; once I went to Brazil, left America as American entered Brazil with my expired Brazilian passport. When my vacation was over I decided to leave the country with my US passport, they would not let me leave the country, not eeven with my German passport. Long story short I missed my flight and 2 weeks of work, because I had to run around and gather ALL my docs (yes including registering with the military) in order to get out of Brazil. I had the same taught you're having. However just before I present my letter and expired passport a nice Brazilian gentleman with the Policia Federal gave me a little piece of advice; Brazil in it's entire history has been a peaceful country, very friendly to immigrants. I decided not to go through with it and gathered all my necessary docs to get my passport renewed.
My Grandad, left Germany because there was no food to eat and the Russians were rapping all women east of Berlin. You never know!!! |
