I am moving to Brazil for 6 months, I want to be close to the nightlife, girls, beach, but low cost of living?

You should get a travel pass and stay some 3 months in the SE of Brazil ie Rio and some 3 months in NE ie Salvador. Rio is very cheap compared to cities in NE as most everything there comes from the south. However, food and accommodation is very cheap anywhere in the country.
Rio is very cosmopolitan and full of life (day and night). Salvador is more laidback and the population mainly black but nevertheles very welcoming.
You will be granted a 3 moths visa on arrival, but it can be easily extended. For accommodation in Rio try to rent in Ipanema or Leblon you will be in the heart of the fashion and beauty. Copacabana is much cheaper, but you will get what you pay for.
You are not allowed to work in Brazil and will find hard to find someone willing to give you a job, but try the local english schools.
As for money, do not take cash with you but your credit card. You will be able cash at most cashpoints with visa/mastercard simbols. Before you go, make sure you have an account with Nationwide B Society. They are the only ones not to charge a fee for using your credit/debit card abroad and you can save up to Â£3 per transaction.
Most cashpoints in Brazil will give you a maximum of R$600 (about Â£140)per go up to your bank's daily allowance.
Remember always to be careful in a foreign country. Avoid the girls of Copacabana and instead, try praia do Pepe in Barra. Much better selecton. I should know, I am Brazilian.

I have a close freind from over in Fortaleza Brazil, who visited me here in Australia for her first time last month and is now back their, I myself and wanting information as to how to immigrate permenently over to Fortaleza as it is lower cost of living than here in Australia plus not like Australia stuck in the longest 7yr drought in history they get lots more rain than I have seen here in years plus I love the weather over their warm balmy 25-35 all year round compared to here in southern Australia 45 deg in summer - 8 overnight in winter with no rains. I would love anyone to be able to help me with information how to go about getting permenent residence to stay over in Fortaleza, Brazil for life.

Well first, Brazil isnt all about the glamorous beaches, woman, and night life parties. First, do u even speak portuguese..and not european portuguese..Brazilian Portuguese. Ull be lucky to find atleast 1 person who speaks a lick of english there. Also, Jobs in Brazil dont pay so hot..thats why Brazilians move to the US. =) ALSO..Brazil is not as upgraded technologically wise. U sleep with nets around ur bed[because of the billions of mosquitos and huge ants], a large majority of the time there is no a.c., bugs flying around everywhere [ they have flying roaches..ew lol]..u take showers with flip flops,different little diseases like "beast of the foot" roughly translated form portuguese which u get from pigs ..which isnt deadly but it is kinda gross..lol. And all that Jazz..don't get me wrong. Brazil is wonderful...but its no beverly hills either. One of the reasons its so wonderful is because of the people's passion. They have immense passion for their culture, music, history and their own people.

The northeast region has the best beaches (try these estates: Ceara, Pernambuco and Bahia). But there are more job expectatives in the south region (estates of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul).
The Southeast Region, where Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo are, is very populated and with high levels of violence, so think twice to go there. (If you have money, you can buy your protection: secure apartments, cars, etc.)
The Middle-East Region is too agricolar. Brazilia (Brazil's capital) is in this region. And the North Region is too... green! Kilometers of tropical forest. We are worried about this region, because of the wood enterprises.
It's very important for you to keep your documents alright, because our Federal Police is very hard with non registered foreign people.
I suggest you to look for languague schools such as Yazigi Internexus and Wizard, they often get american and britsh people with some skill to work as a teacher.
Resuming, the "wild beach life" is in Northeast Region. And the "high level life", in the South Region.

Dang Somanyhats i have no idea where you've been but truly doesn't sounds like you like Brasil too much. You must of headed to some pretty rural parts.
In any case. If you going to Brasil there are many places to go. For an active night live there is Rio and Sao Paulo(Capital Cities). I don't know much about Rio but i know about Sao Paulo. It has a lot of Baladas (places to dance and drink lot of pretty women). Your are also quit likely to bump into someone in Sao Paulo who speaks English as some of the people who enjoy Brasilian night life are Brasilians who have studied in American/British schools. Personally you should go to Rio and Sao Paulo and if you feel adventurous head out to other areas the people suggest.

Rio is not the most expensive ... If u want to live next to nightlife, I can say that Copacabana and Ipanema are the best blocks, but Ipanema is more expensive to live. U can rent an apartament in Copacabana with $250 a month ( a small one ).
