HI!

I'm Brazilian and I can give you some information.

THE NATION
Brazil is the 5th largest nation in the World. Brazil have the 5th largest territory in the World (USA is the 4th due to Alaska) and, 5th largest population - 198 million of inhabitants.

Brazil is a democratic State where votation is totally electronic. The country has 26 states and 1 federal district, where you find the capital, Brasília.

Official idiom is Portuguese. The Brazilian State have 3 branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial.

Exist a good structure in Brazil (thousand of airports and terminals, more than 140 million of telephones (120 million are cell phones), alomost 10 million of internet hosts and more than 50 million of internet users.

The predominant climate is Tropical, but, in the South, the predominant climate is Temperate. Brazil is also, best known in the World due to tourist atractions like Iguaçú Falls, Amazon forest and Rio de Janeiro.

In my opinion, the niciest places to you live are CURITIBA, PORTO ALGRE or GRAMADO, if you are looking for a temerate climate and European look. But, if you are looking for sun, heat and beaches, Rio is the best choice.

BRAZILIAN PEOPLE
Brazil is a multi racial nation. Brazil is a nation of immigrants: more than 50 nations immigrated to Brazil since 1500. But, the big waves of immigration started in 1820 with Germans.

Now, we are the largest Portuguese nation (32 million of descendants), largest italian nation outside Italy (25 million of descendants), largest black nation outside Africa (more than 30 million of blacks and mullatos), second largest german population outside Germany (18 million), largest arab nation outside MIddle East (15 million of descendants), largest japanese population outside Japan (1.8 million) and we have millions of European descendants from Spain (15 million), 5 million of Slavic (2 million from Poland, 1 million from Ukraine, 300,000 from Russia, 250,000 from Hungary and the rest from Croatia, Czech Republic, Belarus and LIthuania, among others) , 3.5 million of descendants of Dutch and 120,00 Jewishes (official statistics but, I believe that Jewishes are much more than 2 million).

ECONOMY
The GDP of Brazil is 2.02 trillion Dollars, the 8th largest in the World. Largest than Canada and Italy, two G7 members. Brazil has a well developed industry that makes almost all that we Brazilians need.

Agriculture correspond to 5.5%, industry correspond to 28.5% and services, correspond to 66% of the economy.

Brazil has 15% in high class and 51% in middle class. 78% of Brazilians lives in the biggest cities. All of these, near the East Coast. No more than 6% of all Brazilians lives in the slums. But, even 95% of the homes in the slums has TV and refrigerator, 68% has DVD Player/recorder, 48% has washing machine, 12% has computers. The percent In middle & high class is 100% in all of these items.

Brazil exports less than 10% of the GDP, so, Brazilians sustain their own economy. More than 90% (1,8 trilion Dollars) is Brazilian money.

CULTURE & HABITS
Brazilians are warm, people loves to have fun, listen music and make parties or reunions at home. But, our culture is completly different of the so called "latinos". We speak other language, we have other parties and heroes, we have different behavior.

Brazilians culture is mainly influenced by Portuguese, Italian, african and US cultures. But you can identify many aspects of Japanese, Jewish and Slavic cultures, also.

Brazilians are most open to some themes (like sex and nudity) than other nations. We grow watching documentaries about naked indians in the forest, so, people tends to face it more naturally.

Many foreigners say "Brazilian women dress in less". I think that Brazilian girls dress just like any other Western women.

It's true that women dress very small bikinis, but this is our culture and women has fantastic bodies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MuJX4qNv3A (A fashion stylist help some people to choose the best bikini).

Foreigner men say "Brazilian are the hottest girls in the World". Well, I don't know if they are some of the hottest but, I see, everyday, that they are one of the most beautiful in the World.

But, many (envious) foreigner women say "They are fakes. Everybody make splastic surgery in Brazil", but, this is a great and stupid foolish because exist almost 100 million of women in Brazil.

Brazilian women are independent (they are "The boss" in 50% of the homes) and many of them work in good jobs like CEOs, marketing analyst, journalist, lawyers, dentist, judges and othrs.

MUSIC
Brazilian national music are samba and Bossa Nova. But, Brazilians loves rock, pop rock, electronic, samba & pagode and "funk carioca", also. We have not salsa, rumba, bolero, tango or ranchera.

I Invite you to visit my youtube channel where you will find a lot of videos about everything in Brazil: cities, clothes, fun, habits, behavior, and much more. Take a look:

I'd visit there first so you have first hand experience if you haven't been there.
You should definitely learn Brazilian Portuguese fluently.
Make sure you have some college or university education to help the odds of you getting a decent job because the labor market is tough there, they have a lot of people to choose from so there is big competition.
General lifestyle is probably similar to where your from like work, grocery shop, visit friends and family etc..
It's just a big more festive.
You can learn about Brazil on Wikipedia, you can get statistics on the CIA website.
Do you know anyone in Brazil?
You have to decide which type of city you want to live in (big, medium or small) and then research to find out which boroughs are nice.
Good luck!
