I want to work at a 5-star hotel in Brazil but I'm American ~ Is this possible? |
I see this as an excellent way to continue improving my Portuguese and to make connections with Brazilians and foreigners traveling there for business. Any suggestions? I have a B.A. in International Affairs and am ready for a new challenge! |

If you speak a little Portuguese, it is possible. The thing is that jobs are not so easy to find in Brazil (well, at least not in Rio) and the pay is not as good as in the U.S. But, not a whole lot of people speak English there, so the competition shouldn't be too big for you. I think it's worth giving it a try. You should look for jobs first though, then move there if you find one. Boa sorte! |

I don't think so, unless you have a working permit, or becomes a Brazilian citizen, just like Brazilians in America. It is true that there are irregular Brazilian workers in America, but a 5-star hotel will not hire without the proper papers anywhere, unless they sponsor you if you have some specifics skills they require. I would check with any Brazilian Consulate in the US. |
